Am I being petty?
I took my 3 year old daughter shopping with me today in town and went to Woolworths. I bought quite a few things and when I paid for them, the woman on the till put them all in a black bin bag. I asked for a proper carrier bag and was told they are not getting them in anymore as the company is trying to save money. I understand all the recycling of carrier bags like tescos is doing but to be honest I found it very difficult to get about town trying to hold my daughter's hand and carry normal shopping bags and then this great big bin bag. (My other shopping would not all fit in it! I did try!). I also found it a bit embarrassing carrying this sort of bag around! By the time I got home it had been ripped by the corner of one of the items in it so I couldn't even reuse it myself as it was an obviously cheap one. Wouldn't it be better for Woolies to follow Tesco's example and should I complain?
i think it's ridiculous, Tesco's aim in reducing carrier bags is environmental, Woolies are doing it to save money?! Surely their cheap bin bags are still more expensive that a woolies bag, and how environmentally unfriendly is it to use a bag made of so much plastic, when a smaller bag should do. I think we all need to get back into the habit of taking a re-usable bag when we go out shopping, but sometimes we are not going to have a bag (forgot to bring one/ remembered we needed something/ impulse buying/ the bag we brought is full) and the shop really ought to have something suitable for us
