Grrrr! Pad trained chihuahua is reverting to going everywhere! HELP!?
My chihuahua is two in a half. I potty trained her to the pads. Rarely in the past she has gone poo elsewhere. In November I moved to a new place. Her first move. She was slipping a little then. Now, Im staying with my bf another new place for two months. And every night she poo's on the floor in the same room as her pad but far away. And sometimes in the bedroom when we arent in there. I have tried reprimanding, sending her to the other room alone, sticking her nose up to it, putting her into her pet carrier for a time out. She was never crate trained,..she didnt like it. Now,there is a another dog of my bf's (non aggresive black lab). He is crate trained and her potty pad is right next to it. But she does go on the pad. Im out of ideas! . HELP!
Reprimanding does nothing unless you caught her in the act. Sending her to the other room alone and time outs mean absolutely nothing to her. Putting her nose in it tells her eliminating is bad and she should hide it from you which can lead her to eating her waste.
Crate train your dog. If she doesn't like it too bad. Let her whine and cry and be obnoxious. Ignore her. Put a blanket over the crate. When she starts whining because she wants out sneak up and give the crate a little shake (just enough to make a vibration, you don't need to rock the crate) and say "enough" in a growly voice. Be consistent.
Pad training is confusing. You taught your dog that eliminating in the house is fine. YOU know what the pads are for, she doesn't. You taught her that peeing in the house is okay so that's what she's going to do. She won't foul her crate.
