Why is my Daschund never leave me alone?
His name is Elvis, which is about 8 months and only got him a couple of days ago. Obviously, I knew I needed to get his shots and get them spayed or fixed asap, but he will not let me go anywhere without it, even the next room. It begins to scratch the door, barking and crying so hard. Also when I leave the house, I turn to things like paper in my room I had on my desk, puppy pads and the carpet near the door all torn. I understand that maybe he was not getting enough attention or love family before, but this is the attachment point. I tried to quit in a kennel today (a big one at that) because I had to run some errands to get used had left me without spoiling my room. I left his food, water, a couple of his toys, a puppy pad and a bed for him so that you can have everything but completely torn every thing there and dropped the water and threw the food out of the kennel. I've never seen a dog this?
It sounds like your dog has abandonment issues. Try leaving a soft music and lighting for him. A TV on is also good. It's just tearing things, because their anxiety level is triggered when you / The leader pack is gone. The kennel is a good idea, because time will see it as a safe place. It will take time and patience. He learn to come back when you leave. Try out for a short period of time, then increase over time.
