Pet House Crate
How to get my 1 year old dog to stop peeing inside?
I have a long-haired chihuahua woman who seems to be wearing diapers! I think it has to do with us getting the mall pet store. tried crate training, but she only pee and poop and roll in it. now just let it run freely around the house with a door doogy but she only does your buiness 50% of the time out!
puppies from pet shops usually come from puppy mills unpleasant. living their lives in tiny cages where they have little choice but to go to the bathroom and lay in it. i would toileting pads. put two in each room and each time the dog out of trouble to consider the disorder to the platform and put on it. take the dog to disorder show it to her and give him a treat. if you want to go out of the pads to move gradually towards the door who wants her out. give a gift each time you use it and eventually have an outside and put a stone on it. Gift lots and lots of praise should help solve the problem. not hit the dog, because just going to think going to the bathroom is something wrong and she tries to hide it from you. and be patient. remember it takes a small dog to work twice as half the distance of larger dogs, you may have to take sometimes. Chihuahuas are one of the most difficult to house train, and from there probably was a dog it makes it harder puppymill. you can teach, you just have to be consistent. You may even consider litterbox training. has worked for many dogs. good luck!
How can I house train my dog? I don't know his age or anything of the sort...?
He is a puppy though. Possibly a few months old. I've been trying the puppy pad method since I live in an apartment and I'm not supposed to have pets. I can't take him outside except at night. But he is ruining the carpet and still not using the pad. Everyone says we should've had him trained by now since we've had him a month. What can I do? Is a crate the only way? And if so, I'm home 99% of the time with him so when should I put him in there? And how can I persuade him to use the pad? Please help!
If you are training him to use pads you don't have to be quite so regimented about a schedule, but you must watch him religiously. If you can't keep an eye on him, place him in the crate. Take him to the pad (on leash, if necessary) when you see signs that he needs to eliminate (circling, sniffing the floor intensely, suddenly wandering away, sniffing his rear, etc.). Praise him and give him a treat when he uses the pad. If you see him starting to eliminate, clap your hands or make a noise to interupt him, then take him to the pad. If you find an accident but didn't see him doing it, don't scold him. He won't know why you are upset.
Use an enzymatic cleaner to clean the carpet. This should help to prevent him from returning to areas because his scent is there.
Most dogs are not housetrained until they are at least 7 months old - and that is pushing it. Your pup is not behind!
